The home of Leeds United FC, Elland Road began life as an open grass field known as the Old Peacock ground, named after the pub which stood opposite. Leeds City FC, later United, was formed in 1904 and elected to the Football League in 1920. The first stand, the West Stand, was erected in 1905; in 1994 the mammoth east Stand became the cantlivered stand in the world.
The statue is of Billy Bremner (created by Frances Segelman), one of Leeds Uniteds great players in the Don Revie era of the 1960s and early 1970s.
