Briggate - Pedestrian shopping area Junction with Albion Place
Leeds. West Yorkshire
Recently added to the 'pedestrian only' shopping centre - Briggate swarms with shoppers every Saturday

'Briggate' is one of the oldest streets in Leeds - a cloth market was held on each side of the road as far back as 1725! In 1822 there was a daily egg and poultry market at the North end.
Many of the leading names in retail have their stores in Briggate, Marks and Spencer are here (of course!) and now Harvey Nichols attracts the well heeled shopper.
Briggate stretches from Leeds Bridge, heading North from the River Aire, becoming Upper Briggate, then joining with North Street, which heads out of the city Northwards
