Briggate, Boar Lane and Duncan Street.
Leeds. West Yorkshire |
For years the city turned its back on the river - there is a story that not many years ago if you saw a fish in the River Aire as it passes through Leeds, you would be likely to see a plastic tray and a portion of chips float past with it!
Now the riverside is crowded with new development, cheek by jowl with renovations of old wharves, mills and waterways buildings, some of the highest increases in property values in the city have been seen along this stretch of the river.
You can take a walk along the towpath through this part of the city, but beware that some sections will have you 'backtracking' as there are private 'residents only' parts.
Oh - and don't fall in! - many sections have no guard rails.
