Work commenced in 2001 on an £850,000 scheme to remodel City Square, echoing the original 1903 layout. New paving, seating and planting will provide a prestigious public space and setting for Listed statuary. Improved pedestrian crossing facilities between City Square, Leeds City Station, and the office and retail areas is a key element of the scheme. The contract will also include £814,000 traffic management works and possibly a water feature.
