Two of the oldest streets in the city cross at this point (Brigatte and the Headrow). The Odeon Cinema, Allders (formerly 'Lewiss') and Burtons/Top Man clothing store are well known landmarks.
Briggate is now closed to traffic south of this point, and has joined the growing pedestrian shopping area.
One of the new features recently added to this area is the distinctive 'street furniture' - lamps, benches and decorative bollards, so keep a look out - many of these pieces of ironwork are sharp!
